Charlotte's Web

Today I went on a field trip with Abby and her class to see the play Charlotte's Web at the University of Hartford. I love that story. I think the reason I'm fond of it is that it was one of the first "chapter" books I read by myself. I bought a copy of the book years ago before I had kids and have been waiting to read it with Abby. Some of the material is deep for kids. Her teacher, Ms. Ali, even warned the children before we left that the end might make them sad and it would be ok to cry. I wasn't sure how Abby would handle it but she was fine. She just said she didn't like the part when they talked about killing Wilbur.

We rode the school bus to the theater. I think riding the bus is just as exciting to the kids as the actual field trip location. It was fun to sit in the bus seat with Abby and talk and sing on the way there and back.

I didn't take any pictures on the trip but I had Stan take this pic before we left this morning.

On the bus trip back to school, I told Abby we had the Charlotte's Web book. She begged me to read some it to her before her nap today. I'm raising a reader and it's really fun to share things from my childhood with her.

While we were at the show Stan watched Stanley enjoy his new toy. Today was the first day we put Stanley in the exersaucer.
